Intensive Beginning Spanish Language I and II.

Introduction to the spoken language with emphasis on oral comprehension. The objective of this course is to relate the learning process to everyday life in Oaxaca through the use of various teaching techniques and the handling of authentic material.

Intensive Intermediate Spanish I and II.
Practice of more complex structures than in Level I with greater communicative competence, and special emphasis on reading comprehension as well as on the production of both oral and written arguments.

Intensive Intermediate Spanish III.
Practice of everyday situational and discursive competence as well as the acquisition of compound grammatical structures. In this course, special emphasis will be given to written expression.

Intensive Advanced Spanish IV
.
Advanced practice of the four skill derived from contact with different kinds of discourse, both in everyday life and literature. The most complex structures in the Spanish language will be practiced.

Intensive Advanced Spanish V.
Improvement of linguistic and communicative skills. The practice of these abilities will improve the development of comprehension and discourse production at a level equivalent to that of a native speaker.

Writing Workshop.
A seminar dedicated solely to the use of written Spanish, including construction, spelling, punctuation and numbers.

Advanced Grammatical Problems.
An in depth study of special difficulties in the Spanish Language. This course is taught specifically for advanced students and Spanish teachers.

Contemporary indigenous groups of Mexico.
A formal analysis of the Mexican ethnic groups and the problems they confront in modern Mexico.

Business Spanish
The Goal of this class is to improve communication skills providing the fluency in Spanish needed to conduct professional tasks with complete confidence.
Components of the course: International business vocabulary, telephone skills, the language of meetings and discussions, negotiations, presentations and business communication skills

Medical Spanish
The purpose of the medical Spanish class is to teach how to communicate with Spanish speaking patients. The classes have been prepared in such a way as to give the student ample practice in studying and using the technical Spanish vocabulary of medicine in a realistic context.
The course was specially designed for doctors, nurses and medical students in order to provide them with specialized training in Spanish as a foreign language.


Mexican 19th Century Literature and 20th Century Literature.
Directed reading, study and discussion of excerpts from the works of 19th century writers and contemporary writers.

Phonetics:
Theoretical basis of Spanish phonemes that will help in acquiring the articulatory habits of the language the course is also oriented to correct the problems of native language interference.

Translation Spanish-English
Emphasis on syntactic and structures of Spanish, with a summary appraisal of their difference from English. Exercises based on translations of business and scientific subjects.

Reading Comprehension
Directed to intermediate and advanced level students. Its goal is to put into practice multiple reading strategies which permit the comprehension of text context and of the linguistic and sociological rules and conditioning which intervene in the process of production.

ENROLLMENT, COURSE DATES AND FEES:

Courses in all levels begin each Monday except on holidays. One on one instruction begin on any day. There is Foreign registration fee of US $50. This fee enables the Institute to guarantee students starting dates, housing arrangements, schedule and duration of the course.

If  students want to live with a family during his or her course of study, we will make the arrangements. Each home stay has been carefully selected.

Credits: The classes, plus conversation sessions, intercambios and lectures, represent a total of contact hours and have been accepted in several universities in the U.S. and Europe. Students should seek permission for credit from their respective universities prior to attending the Instituto.

If you are planning to study per week, just let us know the dates as soon as possible so we can confirm your housing arrangements. Classes start every Monday all- year- round

In order to reserve your spot please register now by filling out our on-line application form, let us know in advance prior your arrival for proper arrangements. 50% deposit is required prior your arrival with a letter of introduction of yourself by e-mail or by regular mail including important information like allergies, health problems or any specific needs. If for any reason you cancel two weeks prior your arrival, you get 25% of your deposit back or we can credit you for your next visit.
